Do you have curtain makers and upholsterers?

We work with experienced curtain makers and upholsterers. They can come out to your home for a complimentary measure and quote. Fabric House can also help you calculate the amount of fabric you will need for your project. Please contact us for further information.

Can I get my curtains and blinds installed?

Once your curtains have been made and delivered your curtain maker can  arrange installation. Otherwise we can put you in contact with installers for this service. Please contact us for further information.

Can I get more of the same fabric at any time?

For our Linens and European Classics range we endeavour to carry the same fabric for as long as demand dictates but our Designer range will change on a regular basis. We recommend you make your order sufficient for your full requirements.

Do you supply curtain linings?

We have sunteen, thermal and blackout linings at competitive prices.
We can also help to recommend the most suitable lining for your curtains and home.

Can I receive a fabric sample?

Absolutely! We are happy to provide a small cutting to assist you in matching your colours. In addition you are also welcome to take home a 3 metre display length of your chosen fabric on approval for 2-3 days. It is important to be certain of your decision and see the fabric hanging and/or draped in your home prior to purchasing.

When will I receive my fabric?

Most of our fabric is available to take home then and there.  We are also happy to package and send your purchase within New Zealand. We use Castle Parcels who offer very reasonable and competitive prices. We endeavour to have your fabric to you within 3-5 working days.

What is a Martindale Count?

The Martindale Rub Test is a widely recognised method for assessing the durability of fabrics. The test is conducted by subjecting a sample of the fabric to a series of abrasive rubs using a circular motion. The Martindale count indicates the number of rubs the fabric can withstand before showing signs of wear and tear such as pilling, fraying or colour loss.

Low Durability (Under 10,000 Rubs) - These fabrics wear quite quickly and are best suited to decorative applications. Think occasional chair that sits elegantly in the corner of your bedroom.

Moderate Durability (10,000 - 20,000 Rubs) - These fabrics are more durable and work well in general use applications with regular activity. Think living room sofa or bedroom curtains.

High Durability (20,000 Rubs and Above) - These fabrics are made to withstand heavy use. They’re ideal for commercial curtains and blinds, or homes with high traffic – think family couch subjected to pets and little feet.
